NC State Tunnel...
At the beginning of every summer I scoop my little girls up from Florida and bring them back to Raleigh with me for the duration. I don't get many opportunities durring the summers to just do what I want to do. I'm not complaining, not at all, I would trade every drop of paint, every canvas and every wall, brick, brush or creative outlet to have my kids all day every day... My point is when you are giving 100% of your attention to a particular thing, you tend to fall off with other things. My kids went back to Florida on Saturday and bright and early on Sunday morning, I packed the paints up and went to a "legal wall' at the NC state campus. It is tunnel that runs under the rail road tracks that divides the campus into essentially two parts. The tunnel and the wall at one end is fair game for any one who wants to paint. The only issue I have with the space is that it takes about 15 minutes before some muppet writes over you piece with a "Vote for Pedro" student council ad. It can really get under your skin.. They have a whole wall and tunnel to write on, but they pick out some nice work and go over the shit. Well I showed up at the tunnel like I normally do... No clue what I am going to paint. In my opinion, I don't do as well when I have no direction. I always fall back on familiar images, and of course I tend to write my name when I am in that zone. Never you mind though, it was the first trip of the post summer season, and it felt good to get out and paint. I promise you, and myself, next time I hit a spot up, I will go for the gold and piece up some hot shit.... 64
